History of the plant rather vague. In the Midlands at the beginning of the XIX century was a factory named "Glenturret", but it worked for a couple of decades. It is known that the plant "Hosh" bought brand "Glentarrit" in 1875 and was renamed. The very same "Hosh" built in 1775 by a group of smugglers. Under the name "Glenturret" factory worked for about 50 years, of which the time was used as a warehouse, and then all was closed for a long 36 years. In 1957, James Fairley bought an old factory building, completely renovated and refurbished them, so that from the historical connection with the old factory only the name. The last owners of the plant - in 1999 it is "Edrington Group" - in 2002, created on its territory museum "The Famous Grouse Experience". Now it is not only the distillery, but also a major tourist center. With its convenient location near the center of Crieff in Perthshire, near the river Loch Turret, the plant is the most visited in Scotland, attracting over 200,000 visitors a year. Today, the plant produces a range of high-quality single malt whiskey "Glentarrit" and components for whiskey "Famous Grouse". Production capacity - 340,000 liters per year.
