Color

The wine is dark ruby ​​color.

"Freestone" Pinot Noir, 2010 - an exquisite red wine with a good balance of acidity and sugar levels, as well as velvety, complex flavor, decorated with spicy notes.
2010 began with cooler temperatures and little rainfall, resulting in the growing season was delayed. Budding vines took place in mid-March. Frosts were back in April and May, but it does not significantly damage the crop. Flowering was completed in early June, and the maturation of the crop - around 25 of August. To harvest began in late September, successfully completing it before the season of heavy rains. For wine were selected clusters of small and medium-sized Pinot Noir. The wine is aged in new barrels (55%) and two-three-year French oak barrels (45%) for 14 months. Bottling was made February 13, 2012.

The famous Napa Valley winemaker Joe Phelps for years sought the appropriate land for planting two great grape varieties - Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1999, together with his son Bill and the management team of the winery "Joseph Phelps" has acquired a former dairy farm, occupies about 100 acres in Sonoma Freestone on the coast. Start of development of these lands were divided three sections - "Freestone", "Quarter Moon" and "Ferguson", each of which has its own characteristics. 80 acres were brought to Pinot Noir, 20 acres - a Chardonnay. By 2007, the new building was constructed winery "Freestone" acquired new sites.

Maturing in the local cold climate grapes often gives very low yield because of the cool days of spring vegetation. Also not uncommon for the region sudden changes in temperature within one day. But a small number of crops is compensated by high quality and concentrated flavor. By 2007, the new building was built winery.
