Wine "Freestone" Pinot Noir, 2010
The wine is dark ruby color.
Silky taste of wine charms nuances of black cherry, cinnamon, wild mushrooms, and extended hints of vanilla and tangerine peel. Bright acidity and balanced tannins create an amazing wine with a long, rich finish.
Pleasant aroma of wine filled with flavors of black currant, dark plum, dried herbs, earthy notes of cedar and forest floor.
Wine is good complement meals with fried or grilled salmon, roast duck breast, red meats, pates, cheeses.
2010 began with cooler temperatures and little rainfall, resulting in the growing season was delayed. Budding vines took place in mid-March. In 1999, together with his son Bill and the management team of the winery "Joseph Phelps" has acquired a former dairy farm, occupies about 100 acres in Sonoma Freestone on the coast. Start of development of these lands were divided three sections - "Freestone", "Quarter Moon" and "Ferguson", each of which has its own characteristics. 80 acres were brought to Pinot Noir, 20 acres - a Chardonnay. Maturing in the local cold climate grapes often gives very low yield because of the cool days of spring vegetation. Also not uncommon for the region sudden changes in temperature within one day.
