Wine "Freestone" Chardonnay, 2010
Wine golden-yellow color.
The taste of wine is full bodied, with a rich, creamy texture, clear acidity, high intensity, bright, concentrated notes of citrus, lemongrass, peach, spices, honey and creme brulee. The wine has great structure, mineral background and balanced lingering finish.
Initially filled with the aroma of wine shades stone fruit and honeysuckle, which later joined notes of citrus zest, wet stone, vanilla and toasted brioche.
The wine goes well with chicken in cream sauce, white meat, seafood and delicate fish dishes.
"Freestone" Chardonnay - monosortovoe wine created from the harvest from their own sites on the coast of Freestone Winery in Sonoma. This wine is a pure expression of the terroir of Sonoma Coast.The 2010 season began a modest rainfall and cooler daytime temperatures. Unusually cold weather from April to the end of May is not damaged vineyards with chardonnay, but delayed their development. Flowering completed by early June. Then the grapes developed according to plan and the end of August, most of the vineyard blocks were full of grapes. Collection began on October 1 and continued until the 21 th, ending just before hit the region heavy rains. Since vegetation Chardonnay in 2010 was slow and in a cool climate, crop showed excellent quality, uniform level of sugar and acidity. In the future, the finished wine shows a balanced, fresh taste with distinct hints of spice.
To preserve the varietal characteristics of Chardonnay were collected in the morning cool clock, whole bunches underwent direct compression, resulting wort passed a slow, natural fermentation. During the process of malolactic fermentation on the lees must repeatedly stirred for more texture. Excerpt wine lasted 14 months and was held in the new (55%) and two-three-year French oak barrels of low and medium roasting. Bottling wine bottles held February 15, 2012.
The famous Napa Valley winemaker Joe Phelps - founder of "Freestone Vinyards" - for many years sought appropriate land for planting two great grape varieties - Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1999, together with his son Bill and the management team of the winery "Joseph Phelps" has acquired a former dairy farm, occupies about 100 acres in Sonoma Freestone on the coast. Start of development of these lands were divided three sections - "Freestone", "Quarter Moon" and "Ferguson", each of which has its own characteristics. 80 acres were brought to Pinot Noir, 20 acres - a Chardonnay.
Maturing in the local cold climate grapes often gives very low yield because of the cool days of spring vegetation. Also not uncommon for the region are sudden changes in temperature within one day. But a small number of crops is compensated by high quality and concentrated flavor. By 2007, the new building was built winery. In the vineyards used for the removal of green harvesting immature grape clusters. Careful collection and sorting manually promote freshness and pure expression of fruit.
