Wine "Freestone" Chardonnay, 2008
The taste of wine is full bodied, rich, bright, dense, with a light acidity, good balance between strength and delicacy, tart notes of green apple, hints of minerals, oak, lime and clementine, hints of spices and vanilla, turning into quite dry and refreshing aftertaste.
The aroma of wine is filled with tones of orange, lemongrass, savory and white flowers. Subtle nuances of oak give attractive sweetness delicate bouquet.
The wine goes well with chicken in cream sauce, white meat, seafood and delicate fish dishes.
Overall, 2008 was a dry strip and continued environmental conditions with temperatures above normal and low rainfall. Despite the dry conditions, harvest Chardonnay gave balanced and flavorful berries. Because of the severe frosts in late March-early April was lost about 50% Chardonnay. After fermentation, the wine is aged 14 months in French oak barrels (65% new, 35% - 2-3 year olds) and was bottled March 17, 2010.

In 1999, together with his son Bill and the management team of the winery "Joseph Phelps" has acquired a former dairy farm, occupies about 100 acres in Sonoma Freestone on the coast. Maturing in the local cold climate grapes often gives very low yield because of the cool days of spring vegetation. Also for the region are often sudden changes in temperature within one day.
