In 1994 the Bolger DOC was created for red wines from the world's recognized grape varieties. The classification has since become world-famous and respected in the world of wine.
Founder Lorenzo Folonari, born in Valtelline in 1729, moved his family to Val Camonica, an area designed to become the cradle of a line of entrepreneurs who would associate their name with trade first in Brescia and then with the production of wine. In 1882, the brothers Italo and Francesco Folonari moved the company headquarters from Val Camonica to Brescia, and then named it Fratelli Folonari. About 10 years later in 1911 they bought the historic Tuscan winery Ruffino, famous for its wines in Italy.
