Name Conti Serristori vinonelnya received from the ancient Florentine family, known for its noble origins. Start of production of wine dates back to XV century, when Antonio Serristori, Senator of the Republic of Florence, married the heiress of Niccolo Machiavelli, received as a dowry farm with vineyards and olive groves, located in Sant'Andrea in Perkussina.
Today Conti Serristori is a part of GRUPPO ITALIANO VINI ("Group of Italian wines") and owns 145 hectares of vineyards that stretch between themselves heart of the Chianti Classico area and the historic part of the town of San Gimignano. Chianti and other great Tuscan wines are vinified and aged in the cellar of the main economy, while Vernaccia is produced in the estate of San Gimignano.
