In 1766 the aristocratic family nest Mons, which bore the name of "Maison noble du Bayle", was purchased from Bordeaux negociant named Pierre Guiraud. The estate has attracted the attention of the merchant, in particular, thanks to its wine-making past. Pierre Guiraud decided to continue the tradition of local wines, not forgetting to give the estate a new name - Chateau Guiraud.
Over the next century, Pierre Guiraud and his son Louis engaged in the development and enhancement of their possessions, acting as zealous and prudent owners. However, the grandson of Pierre Guiraud - Pierre-Aman things did not go so well, so in 1846 the Chateau had to sell. Since that time, and for the next 160 years, the estate changed many owners, without losing his own behalf, and continuing to produce excellent wines. Thus, the name of Chateau went down in history as early as 1855, when it was granted the status of wines Premiers Grands Crus Sauternes (Premier Grand Cru de Sauternes).
Current owners Chateau Guiraud, a total area of 128 hectares, is the leading wine experts and businessmen - entrepreneur Robert Peugeot, Oliver Bernard - the owner of the Domain des Chevaliers , Stephan von Neypperg - the owner of Château Canon La Gaffeler and Xavier Planty - managing the estate. Wine under the brand name "Chateau Guiraud" made with regard to the traditions of Bordeaux and innovative methods. For example, the farm entered service selection of vines, of which have already been produced the best wines of Chateau. Cuttings thus not subjected to cloning, but their yield is used to create new blends.
