Kapikera winery is located on the Italian island of Sardinia. At the beginning of the XX century the grandfather of the current owners of the estate acquired land in the Gallura region, near the town of Arzachena, in the north of the island. Family Ranedda wine produced here only for his own use. In the 70s Mario and Fabrizio Ranedda do industrial winemaking. They expanded the vineyard area and built a new modern winery to produce high quality wines from local varieties Vermentino and Carignano. In 1981 was released the first wine under the brand name "Capichera". The new white wine from Vermentino very different from those wines that were previously produced in Sardinia. Wine harvest in 1980 was a wonderful aroma of tropical fruit, rich flavor and excellent acidity. The release of this wine was the beginning of the modern history of the economy.
In the 80s of the last century in the region implemented a new classification of quality wines - DOCG (Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita). This required changes in production. Brothers Ranedda used various innovations at the farm, were trained in France and studied the experience of wine production. As a result, agriculture was the best in Sardinia. Starting with the release of only one white wine, the company Capichera in recent years expanded its range of wines. Winery now produces five white wines from grapes Vermentino and three red varieties of Carignano. Annual production capacity is not less than 300,000 bottles.
The company currently handles more than Kapikera 50 hectares of vineyards in the north of the island. Solid granite soil with a mixture of sand rocks are well suited for local varieties - Vermentino and Carignano, from which the winery produces a fresh, elegant wine. The company still has a small area in the south of the island, planted with old vines Vermentino. The owners of the manor have relied only on the autochthonous varieties and abandoned the cultivation of international varieties and add them to blend. Vermentino and Carignano are grown on the island for several centuries. Vermentino was brought to Sardinia from the Iberian Peninsula in the XVIII century, and Carignano came to the island since the Phoenicians. Both of these varieties perfectly adapted to the summer heat, harsh climate and strong winds. Nowhere in the world does not acquire such Vermentino quality taste and flavor, as in the Sardinian region of Gallura. For the manufacture of wine farm Kapikera uses its own crop of grapes and partially purchased from neighboring vineyard holdings. In 2001, the company built a new winery, which is equipped with the most modern equipment. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks, and the fermentation process is fully computerized.
