Brick by Brick is a Lithuanian craft brewery, specializing in creating extraordinary beers. In Lithuania its products are famous under the brand name "Raudonu Plytu". All varieties of Brick by Brick beer are characterized by original taste, non-standard recipe and ironic names. Brick brik brews his foam drinks at the Klaipeda plant Svyturys, owned by the Danish Carlsberg Group. The author of the recipe for Brick by Brick beer is the legend of Lithuanian brewing Giulietta Armonene - the main brewer Svyturys and the author of the famous "Shvituris Extra", the most recognizable beer in Lithuania.
The brewery "Svyturys" ("Mayak") was founded in 1784 by a native of the honorary German merchant family Johann Wilhelm Reinke. The family coat of arms Reincke depicted an eagle - a symbol of brave navigators. This symbol became the emblem of the new brewery and is it to this day. After merging with its only direct competitor, the brewery of Theodor Preuss, the plant became the unrivaled leader in brewing on the coast. This is evidenced by popular recognition and high awards received at various competitions.
Interestingly, in the prewar period, the plant's director was the Dutch consul in Klaipeda, William Falk, who significantly expanded the brewery by building a new modern building and launching new types of beer - light caramel, porter and Bavarian Bock. Immediately after the Second World War, the brewery "Svyturys" restored its work, but produced only draft beer, which was distributed in the bars of the Klaipeda region. In 1950, due to the increased demand for beer, the company was equipped with a bottling line.
In 1965, the experts of "Mayak" developed beer "Baltijos" , which became the flagship of the brewery. In 1973, Mayak became one of the first factories in Lithuania to produce pasteurized beers. After the restoration of Lithuania's independence, Mayak was reorganized into a joint stock company.
In 1999, the controlling interest in the company was acquired by the Danish concern Carlsberg Group . The experience of new partners allowed "Svyturys" to improve work in many areas - from increasing and updating production capacities to training personnel and developing new types of products. In December 2001, Mayak was merged with the large Lithuanian brewery Utenos and reorganized into Svyturys-Utenos alus .
